The Monaghan Southern Access Road is a 3.6km strategic route between the N54 to the west of Monaghan Town and the N2 to the east and is divided into three phases. Section 1 (380m) commenced at the N54 and was completed in 2004, Section 2 (1.4km) completed detailed design in 2009 and Section 3 (1.8km) is a protected corridor identified within the Monaghan County Development Plan.
